The Village Voice did a little write up about the upcoming Gong DJ Battle. Here's the link http://www.villagevoice.com/nycguide/ev117355,2.html and below is the actual write up!
It's on next Wednesday!!!
Save the drama for the next episode of Yo Mama and man (ladies included) up for The 2007 Gong DJ Battle U.S. finals. It’s an energetic night of hip-hop, turntablism, and a comedic battle of the beats when DJs from across the country bring the noise and skillz to the Big Apple. You better hit the turntables hard or you’ll experience the wrath of the gong. DJ’ing may have been thrust aside by mainstream hip-hop, but the ailing art form still has plenty of players and fans who will no doubt get a kick out of tonight’s special performance (and reunion) by veteran scratch troupes X-Men (Steve Dee, Sean, and Diamond J) and the X-ecutioners (Roc Raida, Mista Sinista, Total Eclipse, Rob Swift, Precision, and Boogie Blind). Many of the veterans will also serve as judges for the evening, so you may want to do backflips when they take the stage. May the best needlehead win. (INCE)
